Infor SyteLine

Infor ION Connect Setup for SyteLine Integration

Infor ION (Intelligent Open Network) is the middleware backbone connecting SyteLine to other Infor products and third-party applications within the CloudSuite Industrial ecosystem. ION uses BODs (Business Object Documents) as its canonical message format, routing data between connection points through configurable document flows. Proper ION setup eliminates point-to-point integration spaghetti and provides centralized monitoring of all data exchanges.

Connection Points and BOD Configuration

Each application in the ION ecosystem requires a connection point that defines how it sends and receives BODs. SyteLine's connection point is pre-configured during CloudSuite Industrial provisioning, but custom connection points for third-party systems must be created in ION Desk. The connection point type (Application, API Gateway, or File-based) determines the transport mechanism for BOD delivery.

  • Verify the SyteLine connection point in ION Desk under Connect > Connection Points with correct tenant mapping
  • Create API Gateway connection points for REST-based third-party systems using OAuth 2.0 client credentials
  • Configure File-based connection points with SFTP credentials for legacy systems exchanging flat files
  • Map SyteLine BODs (Sync.ItemMaster, Process.PurchaseOrder) to the correct connection point endpoints
  • Set BOD acknowledgment requirements per connection point for guaranteed delivery confirmation

Document Flows and Data Routing

Document flows in ION define the routing path for each BOD between source and target connection points. A flow consists of a source, optional transformation, and one or more destinations. ION's visual flow designer allows mapping SyteLine outbound BODs (like Sync.SalesOrder) to target applications, with filters to route subsets of data based on BOD content or metadata.

  • Create document flows in ION Desk > Connect > Data Flows with SyteLine as the source connection point
  • Add content-based routing filters using XPath expressions against BOD XML to route by warehouse, company, or order type
  • Configure ION transformation scripts for BOD-to-BOD mapping when target applications expect different BOD versions
  • Set up multi-destination flows to fan out SyteLine BODs to multiple consuming applications simultaneously
  • Enable flow monitoring with alert rules for failed deliveries, queue depth, and processing latency thresholds

ION API Gateway and Event Management

The ION API Gateway provides RESTful access to SyteLine data for external applications without direct database connectivity. It proxies requests through ION's security layer with OAuth 2.0 authentication and rate limiting. ION events triggered by SyteLine business actions (order creation, shipment confirmation, inventory adjustment) can invoke webhooks, update Data Lakes, or trigger workflows in ION Process.

  • Register external applications as ION API Gateway consumers with authorized API credentials and scopes
  • Configure ION API endpoints that map to SyteLine IDO operations (load, update, invoke) via the gateway
  • Set up ION event triggers on SyteLine BOD publications for real-time webhook notifications to external systems
  • Route SyteLine data to Infor Data Lake via ION for analytics and reporting with Birst or Power BI
  • Monitor API Gateway usage, rate limits, and error rates in ION Desk > Monitor > API Dashboard
